PAIN SCIENCE EDUCATION
Pain and Chronic Pain, sadly, are a large part of American Life. Acute pain is defined as 6 months or less, chronic pain then is 6 months or longer. During that time, your body / mind / spirit is adapting to deal with the pain. Living with pain affects all parts of your life, so as part of the healing process, we need to include all these parts. New research shows that when we include the biopsychosocial parts, people's pain/chronic pain are reduced. In our sessions, we discuss, when, where and how your pain started; and what is happening currently. We talk about medications you are taking, and what else you are doing in trying to manage your pain - What is working and what is not working. As part of your healing process, I may incorporate massage and movement in some sessions, but we really focus on what is happening in your life. I will also assign “homework.” Putting all these pieces together is important in your recovery. Together, we work with the nervous system in different ways and “retrain” the body so that pain is reduced.
Together, we develop a plan; to reduce your pain levels. I am focused on better outcomes for my clients.
